NC Group Leadership Teams Up for Charity at Stadium of Light
On May 22, 2025, a spirited group of over 30 local business leaders, including NC Group’s CEO Lee Childs, Operations Director Neil Mounsey, Engineering Tutor Darren Grainger, and Board Member Stuart Johnson, took to the hallowed turf of Sunderland’s Stadium of Light for a charity football match that raised over £2,000 for Grace House North East.
⚽ A Match with Meaning
The event, dubbed “Play on the Pitch,” was more than just a friendly game—it was a testament to the power of community and corporate responsibility. Organised by local charity patron John Longford from Northern Spire, the match saw teams of business professionals donning football kits to support Grace House, a Sunderland-based charity dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled children, young people, and their families.
The teams were split between Northern Spire Ltd & Richard Reed Solicitors , with the former emerging victorious with a 8-1 victory. However, the true success lay in the funds raised and the awareness generated for the charity’s vital work.
🌟 NC Group’s Commitment to Community
For NC Group’s leadership team, participating in this event was a natural extension of their commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. Lee Childs, Neil Mounsey, Darren Grainger, and Stuart Johnson’s involvement highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting local causes and fostering a sense of unity within the business community.
Their participation not only contributed to the fundraising efforts but also underscored the importance of leadership in driving positive change. By stepping onto the pitch, they demonstrated that businesses can play an active role in supporting charitable initiatives and making a tangible difference in their communities.
💰 Impact Beyond the Game
The funds raised from the event are set to support Grace House’s comprehensive life skills and work experience programme for disabled young people aged between 12 and 25. This initiative aims to address the employment gap faced by disabled youth, who are twice as likely to be unemployed compared to their non-disabled peers .
Victoria Brown, CEO of Grace House, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We’re delighted to receive this donation from the IMCF, as it will make such a huge difference to the lives of disabled young people that we support.”
🤝 Building Stronger Communities
Events like “Play on the Pitch” exemplify the strength of collaboration between businesses and charitable organisations. They not only provide immediate support but also foster long-term relationships that benefit the community as a whole. NC Group’s involvement serves as an inspiring example of how businesses can leverage their resources and networks to support meaningful causes.
As Grace House continues its mission to support disabled children and young people, the partnership with local businesses like NC Group remains crucial. Together, they are helping to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all members of the Sunderland community.
