In an inspiring collaboration, NC Group has teamed up with industry giants 3M and Ineos to support a dedicated cohort of apprentices in achieving Distinction grades in their end point assessments. This initiative highlights the importance of hands-on training and mentorship in preparing the next generation of skilled professionals in the science and engineering sectors.
The apprentices involved in this program include Matthew Davies, Oliver Wilkinson, and Lewis Wall from 3M, as well as Ineos Compounds Team Leaders Marc Patterson and Jonathon Bradley. Additionally, Christine Mudd, an apprentice focusing on safety, health, and environmental (SHE) practices, and NEPS Business Administrator apprentice Abbie Tuckwell are also part of this remarkable group.
Under the guidance of NC Group, these apprentices have received extensive training and mentorship designed to equip them with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for success in their respective fields. The program has focused not only on technical competencies but also on developing critical soft skills that are essential in today’s fast-paced work environment.
“We are incredibly proud of our apprentices, their hard work and ultimeately the high grades that they have achieved,” said Darren Tate, Apprenticeship Manager for NC Group. “Our partnership with 3M and Ineos allows us to create a supportive learning environment that encourages excellence and enables our apprentices to achieve the best possible outcomes.”
The collaboration emphasizes the commitment of these companies to invest in young talent and develop a skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of the industry. The apprentices have expressed gratitude for the guidance and resources provided, which have played a crucial role in their preparation for the assessments.
Matthew Davies, one of the 3M apprentices, shared his experience: “The support from NC Group and the mentorship from industry professionals have been invaluable. It has motivated us to strive for the best possible outcomes in our assessments.”
Christine Mudd of Ineos Compounds shared her thoughts: “I recently completed a Safety, Health, and Environment apprenticeship with NC Group and couldn’t be more pleased with the support I received from my tutor/assessor. My tutor was incredibly supportive, always available to answer questions and provide guidance. Her encouragement and expertise were crucial in helping me stay on track and reach my goals.
The continuous feedback I received motivated me to strive for higher standards. The apprenticeship not only allowed me to gather valuable evidence from my job role, but the classroom sessions also provided me with excellent subject knowledge. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to complete the NEBOSH qualification alongside my apprenticeship.
Additionally, I completed a workplace project that allowed me to apply key principles of risk management, implement controls, and monitor activities in real-world situations. The hands-on nature of the program equipped me with practical skills such as improving SHE management systems, conducting accident and incident investigations, performing risk assessments, identifying hazards, and implementing safety controls, all of which have directly improved my confidence and efficiency at work.
Beyond the technical skills, the apprenticeship helped me grow personally, building my confidence to challenge inappropriate behaviours and improving my problem-solving and decision-making skills within my health and safety role.
I achieved a distinction in all three elements of the end-point assessment and an overall distinction, and I am incredibly proud of this achievement. Thank you, NC Group. I would highly recommend the SHE apprenticeship from NC Group Ltd.”
Achieving Distinction grades does not only signify the personal achievements of each apprentice but also contributes to the reputation of the programs offered by NC Group, 3M, and Ineos.
As the industry evolves, initiatives like this highlight the vital role of apprenticeships in developing a skilled workforce and ensuring the future success of local industries. The commitment of NC Group and their partners serves as a beacon of hope for aspiring professionals and a reminder of the power of collaboration in education and industry.
